Lower position with 23-25 away against Kungälv and three and a half minutes left.
Then LUGI turned the matches around in a dramatic end, returned home with a 26-25 victory – and are thus qualified for the semifinals against Sävehof.
Last season, LUGI missed the playoffs after months of injuries, illness and worldly misery.
Now the team has advanced to the semifinals of the SHE playoffs after 3-0 in matches against Kungälv.
But it turned out to be a strange match.
During the first 45 minutes, LUGI took the lead with a couple of balls – and then Kungälv caught up. Over and over again.
But during the final quarter, all logic ceased to apply.
Suddenly, Kungälv could go from lower camp 16-19 to lead 23-20. Kenneth Andersson and his nodules stopped the bleeding and slowly caught up.
During the four final minutes, the team kept a clean sheet, and Amanda Andersson’s goal, which meant 26-25 to LUGI, was the last of the match.
Oliva Löfqvist:
– Today was not a good performance, but shit the same – we won!
– If we had lost today, Kungälv would have gained more self-confidence and a boost. Now it will be fun with semi-final games and I hope we can give future opponents a match.
Mia Lagumdzija could not participate in Kungälv – a big loss of course.
Kungälv’s Marie Wall also made her last match.
– I am proud of the girls, even though it was hard to lose Mia who is a fantastic player.
This was your last match? What do you highlight?
– The national team has been fantastic and the time with Höör with Swedish Championship gold and European Cup games was also great. Then it was fantastically important for me to end my career in my mother club Kungälv, said Marie Wall with tears in her throat.
