Lugano also wins in Zug – defeats for Rappi, Ambri and the SCL Tigers

Friborg-Gottéron – Ambri-Piotta

Friborg-Gottéron made a 3-2 win after a penalty shootout against Ambri-Piotta with a strong final sprint from a 0-2 deficit.

Gottéron fought for his detention with goals from Tristan Vauclair (52.) and Ryan Gunderson (59.) and ultimately won his first penalty shootout of the season 3-0. Killian Mottet, against whose goal recognition Ambri protested the field before the penalty shootout continued, as well as Zach Boychuk and Daniel Brodin were successful for the Freiburg.

Ambri had to attribute the defeat to himself. The long range shot from Gottérons Gunderson to 2: 2 would have kept a Daniel Manzato in top shape. And in overtime, the Leventines missed a two-point success despite a clear increase in opportunities. Giacomo Dal Pian and Mattia Bianchi had been successful for Ambri in regular time.

In the duel of the table neighbors below the playoff separator, the two most inefficient teams in the league faced each other in the end. Friborg-Gottéron goal production from his number of shots before the game averaged just over eight percent, that of Ambri even just below.

For the first time this season, Ambri was able to count on his Czech pioneer Jiri Novotny, who had so far been without a season game for Biancoblu due to a knee injury.

SCL Tigers – Lausanne

Lausanne won the stroke duel at the SCL Tigers surprisingly easily 4: 0 thanks to a double strike in the middle third and set themselves apart by three points from the Emmental.

The home team disappointed across the board in Langnau. At the beginning of the second section, the Tigers were extremely tame – and then they were unable to react to the 0-2 deficit. 96 seconds after the first break, Yannick gave Herren Lausanne the lead because he just played more energetically in front of the goal. Just 46 seconds later, Tim Traber caught goalie Ivars Punnenovs in the near corner. It was his first goal in two years, but men scored for the third game in a row.

The Emmental missed the best chance of returning to the game early in the last third when they were able to play Powerplay for three minutes. However, it was Lausanne’s PostFinance top scorer Dustin Jeffrey, who caused the decision after a counterattack in the minority.

The SCL Tigers players may have been a bit shocked. The majority came about because Fabian Heldner hit Langnau’s Robbie Earl violently on the head with a check. The American probably lost consciousness in the meantime and had to be carried off the ice in the 44th minute with the stretcher. Heldner is likely to face disciplinary proceedings.

Rapperswil-Jona Lakers – Biel

The EHC Biel can still win away. The Seeländer celebrated their first success on foreign ice at 6: 4 in Rapperswil-Jona since November. In the end, the Biel Powerplay decided in favor of the team from Coach Antti Törmänen. The best overpowering game in the league turned three chances into two goals, including the decisive one in the 49th minute by Damien Riat for a 5: 4 lead.

Biel thus prevented a déjà-vu of the unpleasant kind. At the first game of the season in the canton of St. Gallen they had led 3-0 and lost 3: 5. This time, the Rapperswilers turned a 1: 3 decline to a 4: 3 after two thirds. After that, the taillight was not clever enough to dry the win.

Biel, which had slipped into the crisis in the meantime, is now able to re-orient itself after the second victory in a row – the last time it succeeded on December 1. The last away win was even longer. On November 28, the Seeländer won in extra time in Zug, the last time they scored three points on November 15 with a 3-2 in Lausanne.

Train – Lugano

HC Lugano confirmed the form increase of the past weeks with a 2-1 victory at EV Zug, the leader after loss points.

Jani Lajunen in the start third in majority and veteran Raffael Sannitz in the middle third set the course for the guests with a 2-0 lead over the second win from the last eight direct duels. For Zug, who could never act outnumbered, only defensive warlord Johan Morant was successful at the beginning of the final third. Otherwise Lugano’s strong goalie Sandro Zurkirchen could not be defeated.

Lugano convinced with a clear and disciplined performance. The guests shielded their own slot well. They admitted very little and impressed with a rapid attack initiation.

For the first time this season, the sixth-ranked Ticinese fought three successes in a row without a loss. It was also the seventh success from the last nine games in Lugano, while Zug suffered the second defeat from the last three games.

George Soros hands out in Davos: “The world would be a better place without Xi and Trump”

The name George Soros is a red cloth for right-wing nationalists and populists. They demonize the American billionaire in an anti-Semitic campaign as the mastermind of a conspiracy to destroy the Christian West. For Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Soros, who comes from Budapest, is the enemy.

Soros is 89 years old today and quite fragile. But he is not intimidated. This was shown by his annual speech on …
