Lufthansa’s innovation lab is releasing a smart app that allows users to book flights and hotel rooms via chat.
Swifty, as the new app is called, is built on ChatGPT plugins. For example, Expedia’s plug-in is used to book hotel rooms and another for flights. Ninety percent of flights in the US and EU are available via this route.
Lufthansa Innovation Hub has already developed several travel-related apps. Those that actually came out also spun off and raised venture capital to fund further growth. A similar plan is ready for Swifty.
Behind the scenes, work is being done on links with OpenAI plug-ins that can also be used to book train tickets, taxis, workplaces and restaurants. The train tickets may go through Omio, which is now working on a link with the OpenAI platform.
