Cologne (dts) – Lufthansa continues to fly to Ukraine. This corresponds to the security assessment by national and international authorities, said a company spokesman for the “Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland”.
At the weekend, the Dutch airline KLM suspended flights to Ukraine altogether. In addition, the Ukrainian company SkyUp was forced by the owner of a Boeing 737 to land the machine on a flight from Madeira to Kiev in the Republic of Moldova. The background was ambiguities about the insurance of the machine. According to the spokesman, Lufthansa is “continuing to monitor the situation closely”.
The safety of passengers and crew members is “top priority at all times”. When asked how the different considerations at Lufthansa and KLM can be explained, the spokesman only said: “We do not want to comment on the singular different assessment of KLM.”
