Lufthansa is facing relegation from the Dax

The chances of Lufthansa staying in the top stock market league are dwindling. In June it decides whether the founding member has to leave the leading German index.

Dhe winners and losers of the corona crisis can be easily seen from stock prices. The losers predominate in the Dax. Only three corporations have not suffered from sharply falling profit expectations in recent weeks: Deutsche Börse benefits from brisk trade, Vonovia from stable cash inflows from its tenants, and Deutsche Telekom’s business is also relatively crisis-proof. Here, profit expectations even rose slightly.

The biggest loser, however, is Lufthansa. There can be no question of profit estimates here. There is only discussion of the amount of the loss and a rescue by the state. The share price has halved smoothly since mid-February. And that does not go unnoticed by the rankings of the Deutsche Börse, which are compiled monthly. At the end of February, Lufthansa was still ranked 40th in the market value of freely tradable shares, 44th at the end of March, and now ranked 48th on the ranking published on Wednesday at the end of April.
