Many people in the region have been waiting for this: Lufthansa will be connecting Leipzig / Halle Airport with Frankfurt again from June 28, 2021. The scheduled flights are offered up to eight times a week.
Lufthansa plans to continuously expand the service to the Frankfurt hub to 14 weekly flights over the course of the summer.
As a result of the pandemic, the Leipzig / Halle – Frankfurt connection has been suspended since March 18, 2020.
Offers from Dresden
Lufthansa has been serving the Dresden – Frankfurt route for a year – after only a seven-week interruption as a result of the pandemic. The flights are offered daily. From July up to three connections per day are planned between Dresden and Frankfurt. Lufthansa flies to the Munich hub from Wednesdays to Sundays and Mondays.
From August the connection will be operated daily.

Testmöglichkeiten am Airport
Passengers have the opportunity to be tested for a fee in Covid19 test centers operated by private providers at Leipzig / Halle and Dresden airports. The dates for fast antigen and PCR tests can be arranged online directly with the provider.

Protecting health is a top priority
Central German airports already took extensive precautions to protect the health of passengers, visitors, partners and employees after the first lockdown last year.
A medical mouth and nose cover must be worn in the terminals. There are machines in front of the buildings where FFP2 masks are available.
Protective plastic panes were installed at the check-in counters and at the boarding pass control. Monitors, signs and announcements remind passengers and visitors to comply with the rules of conduct and hygiene. There are also markings on the floor to remind people of the applicable distance rules at check-in and security checks, for example. Seating options in the terminals are also marked with distance markings.
It is also compulsory to wear mouth and nose protection on board during the flight. Passengers should find out about the applicable provisions in advance from their airline or their tour operator. The same applies to the entry regulations of the destination country and the hygiene rules applicable there.
Notes for passengers
In order to be able to start their flight as relaxed as possible, passengers should be at the airport at least 2.5 hours before departure and use the online check-in. The pandemic makes additional formalities necessary at the check-in, therefore longer waiting times than usual should be planned.
A maximum of 1 piece of hand luggage is allowed on board.
