Lufthansa cancels 33,000 flights | Finansavisen

– From mid-January to February, we see a large decrease in the number of bookings and therefore cancel 33,000 flights, around 10 percent, says the head of Europe’s largest airline, Carsten Spohr, to Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAZ).

– We miss first and foremost passengers in our domestic market – Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium – as it is these countries that are hardest hit by the pandemic wave, he says.

Lufthansa now flies about 60 percent of the routes they operated before the corona pandemic hit, and the number of passengers has been roughly halved, according to Spohr.
