Lufthansa and British Airways cancel all flights to China Abroad

British Airways has direct connections with the Chinese cities of Beijing and Shanghai. They were shut down until March, the company said. Britain advised Tuesday its citizens not to travel to China if that is not absolutely necessary.

American Airlines also announced measures. American society no longer flies from Los Angeles to Shanghai and Beijing between 9 February and 27 March.

KLM met today in emergency consultation, but is not scrapping flights to China for the time being. For KLM, a flight stop from Schiphol to China would mean a huge million dollar loss. The airline operates 59 flights to China each week, together with partners such as China Southern and China Airlines.

The infectious corona virus has already cost the lives of more than 130 people. Around 6,000 people became infected worldwide.
