Ludwigsburg brings Jamel McLean back to the BBL

Jamel McLean returns to the BBL. The former Bonn and Berlin Big Man signs with MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg.

The MHP RIESEN Ludwigsburg have found a new big man: Jamel McLean has signed a contract with the leaders of the BBL until the end of the season and will add Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann as the only regular center to Ludwigsburg’s big men.

McLean is returning to the BBL: In 2013/14 the American played for Telekom Baskets Bonn before moving to ALBA BERLIN for one season. There, as well as in Milan and at Olympiacos, McLean was active in the EuroLeague.

So far this season, McLean has not been active at any club, last season the 32-year-old wore the jersey of the Italian first division club Sassari. McLean’s teammates included former BBL players Dyshawn Pierre and Dwayne Evans and the current Bamberg-born Michele Vitali. McLean was also active in Japan.

For Sassari, Jamel McLean averaged 6.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 0.6 assists in Serie A in 2019/20.

With McLean, the Ludwigsburg have signed a Big Man who feels comfortable in the zone. After it didn’t work out with Austin Wiley, it is now the second attempt for the Ludwigsburg to have found a replacement for Elias Harris, who had changed from Spain. Most recently Desi Rodriguez and Tremmell Darden helped out on the five.
