Sunrisers Hyderabad set a target of 166 runs against Lucknow Supergiants in the crucial match of IPL. Batting first, Lucknow scored 165 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ayush Badoni (55*) and Nicholas Pooran’s (48*) innings gave Lucknow a better score. Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets for Hyderabad conceding just 12 runs in four overs.
The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium witnessed Hyderabad’s top-class bowling in the Powerplay. Only one six were approved. Lucknow made just 27 runs in the first six overs with Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissing Kock and Marcus Stonis and delivering a double strike. Later, KL Rahul tried to save Krunal Pandya but failed.
When the innings reached the midway point, Rahul returned to the ball of Cummins as well. Rahul managed to score only 29 runs in a 33-ball innings. Soon Krunal also reached the dugout. Krunal was run out after scoring 24 runs. Later it was the Ayush Badoni-Nicholas Pooran partnership that saved Lucknow. Lucknow also had a scoring spree when the two came together.
Badoni completed his half century from 28 balls. The alliance scored 63 runs in the last five overs. Badoni-Pooran added 99 runs without separation. Badoni scored 55 runs in 30 balls including nine fours. Pooran scored 48 runs off 26 balls including six fours and a six.
