Francesco Bagnaia he came out as the Malaysian MotoGP champion in 2022. His fight to be the best at the Sepang circuit was not easy because he was “disturbed” by fellow Ducati, Enea Bastianini.
Bagnaia felt that Bastianini’s attack was a spark of motivation to put in even more effort. The two were involved in a frontline battle, right after Jorge Martin crashed on lap seven.
Bastianini had time to overtake Bagnaia on lap 11. The Gresini driver took a small gap in the fourth corner to overtake Bagnaia from the inside. In this situation Bagnaia was nervous.
“The hardest part of the race was when Enea overtook me. I knew that Fabio was third and today it was very important to get as many points as possible thinking about Valencia.” Bagnaia said as quoted by Todocircuito, Monday (24/10/2022).
At the start of lap 15, Bagnaia continued to overshadow Bastianini. On the straight Bagnaia overtakes him after taking the lead in a quick brawl.
“I was just trying to understand Enea’s speed and when I learned that my pace was better I tried to go back and brake as hard as possible so as not to give him a chance to overtake me. It’s difficult, but one of the best moments of the season.” , said Bagnaia.

Furthermore, Francesco Bagnaia was able to maintain his leadership position. However, Enea Bastianini did not give up. Bagnaia’s future teammate at Ducati next season is still stuck.
The fight wasn’t over yet, when the final round of the drama was almost here. Bastianini, too close, almost hit Pecco’s bike.
Despite fear of a fall, Bagnaia actually felt that Bastianini’s attack made him more motivated. During the race Quartararo was more than 2 seconds behind. But on lap 18 Quartararo managed to cut his time by about 1.9 seconds from Bagnaia.
“After all, a fight like this makes you push harder, if Enea is always behind me Quartararo will probably take us in second place. Bastianini’s attack is good to try even more”, he added.
