Dry weather, 8 degrees above zero and a gentle breeze formed the basis for a fast course in the Czech Republic. The Tabor circuit was renamed “a typical French circuit”, which was fodder for the big bikes.
Lucinda Brand immediately put the string on it at the start. Together with compatriot Puck Pieterse and Kata Blanka Vas, the world champion raced hard in the opening laps. Denise Betsema gave up, chain problems condemned Yara Kastelijn to a supporting role.
The young Pieterse always made the difference on the bars, where she jumped smoothly. Halfway through the race, the promise drove away from the pack, but Betsema found her second breath and pulled her compatriot back.
Six riders battled for the victory in the final round. Brand set an ultimate acceleration, Sausage did not give in yet, but did not touch her compatriot’s wheel anymore. In the sprint Pieterse took second place.
Denise Betsema finished 5th in the Czech Republic, leaving expensive points behind. Lucinda Brand now has 19 points more than Betsema in the World Cup standings.
