Lucienne Paris celebrates her 100th birthday at home

Born in Fermaincourt, a hamlet in the commune of Montreuil, on January 6, 1923, she was struck by an attack of polio which left her with a paralyzed leg at the age of 3.

His strength of character enabled him to overcome this handicap by learning to ride a bicycle. “The bike was my second stop! I started school when I was 10 because the teacher didn’t want a disabled person in her school. I got my school certificate 2 years later! »

He has always lived in Fermaincourt. “I was cycling to work in the factory on the way to Chartres in 1936 and I was cycling to Chartres for the Fête des barricades,” she says proudly.

Lucienne Paris, nee Larher, married the village postman with whom she had 2 daughters, now aged 75 and 76. You celebrated your golden wedding anniversary at Fermaincourt.

At the end of the Second World War he became the keeper of the Fermaincourt level crossing for 23 years. “I’ve always been afraid of arriving late to close the barriers but I ride fast even with a weak leg. »

Widowed of 20 years, currently suffering from AMD, she can no longer read, her favorite activity, but maintains incredible morale. She is well supported by home care services under the watchful eye of her granddaughter Patricia. What do you want for your 100th birthday? “May my family be united. »
