In October, it was exactly 41 years since my parents Lucie Vondráčková, Hana Sorrosová a Jiří Vondráček, they swore allegiance and eternal love at the altar in the church in Slatiňany. Lucie was already in the world at the time, she was born in March 1980. But few people know that the wedding hardly took place and Lucie could have been born somewhere else. The family usually guards their privacy, and Hana, even though she is a well-known lyricist, does not want her to be known too much. “My wife is an introvert, she doesn’t tend to be promoted and I cater to her. She prefers to write rather than speak, “Vondráček confided. Hana has been writing lyrics since 1993, and in addition to a number of songs sung by her daughter, hits such as Long Night, Isabel, she has already written for Karla Gotta († 80), or many others. But if Hanka was not stubborn, the music scene would most likely lose these treasures and Lucie did not live here either.
They played chess
Lucie Vondráčková’s parents met in the 1970s. Their mutual friend, who tried to put them together, had his fingers in it. “A friend called me to come to a meeting that he wanted to introduce someone to me. I was in sophomore year at the gym and I didn’t want to go there much. But in the end I went to the Savoy Hotel and he introduced me to a blond man with sharp features, not very handsome. I didn’t like Jirka very much then and I didn’t like him either. It was an embarrassing afternoon, “Sorros admitted bluntly, surprisingly talking about the details her husband had added. “But Hanka gave me the phone, so I called her after a fortnight. I lived in Letná at the time and she ran away from school, from mathematics, because she didn’t enjoy it, and she came to me. And what was I supposed to do with a girl who was seventeen at the time and she looked like fourteen? That’s how we played chess, “Vondráček explained. They became friends with Hanka during the chess game and gradually became a relationship even though they were and still are so different. Jiří was already playing in the band and Hana didn’t know him at all. She had her world, she went on hikes and had no idea that there was any pop. She went to exhibitions rather than music. And precisely because she was different, Vondracek fell in love with her. “Hanka has slipped away from other girls, and that’s quite appealing to you,” he admitted. They had been dating for several years when the first rough test came.
