Many of you have been watching her through TV screens for 25 years, she never loses her smile, she graduated from the grammar school in Neratovice and the Higher Vocational School of Journalism in Prague.

We are talking about the face of Televsní noviny, presenter, actress and recipient of several professional awards, Lucia Borhyová. Everyone knows her as a “storyteller”, but what is Lucie like as a driver, what cars does she like and what does she drive now? You might be surprised…

What was the first car you drove and what was the first car you owned?

I remember that exactly. I drove my then boyfriend’s car for the first time, and that 120 damage.

My first car was a Renault Twingo when I was 19. A small car ideal for learning. Then I had a Peugeot 206 CC and other cars.

Do you remember your first fine, what was it for?

Well, parking was probably my first offence. As a girl who likes to wear high heels, I usually want to park as close to where I’m going as possible. But I would never park on it space designated for the disabled or at another reservation center. And then a few speeding tickets followed.

What about a recent motor problem or funny incident?

I spend a lot of time in the car, because I drive all over Prague to work on Barrandov. The car is my second home, my office. So maybe everything interesting could happen there. Fortunately, I can’t think of anything negative about that barrel.

Is there a type of car you don’t like?

I don’t like these trends, square boxes, vans of all sizes. I wouldn’t want to drive or own them. I like more rounded shapes, but I would make an exception for one German SUV.

On the other hand, what type of car is right for you?

I like SUVs. I like taller cars and even better with matte paint or foils. I have a weakness for luxury SUVs, including my own DS 7with which I am very pleased.

What are the most important criteria for you as a woman when choosing a car?

I’m a classic girl. It is important that I feel safe in the car because I drive children in it. And the higher and stronger the car is in my opinion, the safer it is and the better the view I have from it. That’s why I don’t really like sports cars or noisy cars with roaring engines.

And then, of course, the basis for me is the color and the interior, so that it fits together. In addition, security systems, good audio, because I like to listen to music in the car, or lights inside.

Have you had the chance to try some really interesting cars in your life?

For example, a bright orange Corvette. It was a beautiful car, and wherever we drove it, there was an amazing response. Then I was on mostly a circuit and she drove in racing cars, and in Mallorca she tried different SUVs.

I had the opportunity to sit in cars that were very luxurious and not so luxurious, but the great adrenaline for me was off-road vehicles overcoming high bumps.

Do you follow car related news?

I try to get a wide view, so I follow the cars as well. News, technology. But that I would lie there knowing everything, then again, no.

What about electric cars?

I think it’s a good way to go about the environment. Personally, I wouldn’t want an electric car, because it doesn’t go that far yet.

It suits me better plug-in hybridwhen I drive around town on the battery and use petrol for longer trips. Charging electric cars, even if it is fast these days, is still a waste of time, even several stops after 20 minutes, while I can fill two minutes.

And finally, what kind of cars are you tempted to drive?

Since I feel comfortable in tall cars, I am drawn to various off-road vehicles. In short, cars with which you know can cross a river or overcome other large obstacles on and off the road.
