60 years ago, on July 12, 1963, at the town hall of Thionville and then at the Saint-Maximin church, the marriage of Lucie Schmit and Gérard Demaret was celebrated.
On Friday July 14, in the presence of Pierre Zenner, mayor, his deputy Philippe Even, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Lucie and Gérard renewed their wedding vows.
Lucie Demaret was born in Métrich from a family of artisans. She spent her youth in her native village working as a gardener’s helper. Gérard Demaret, born April 13, 1939 in Thionville, son of a railway worker, worked as an office worker at EDF.
After their marriage, they settled in Kœnigsmacker. From this union were born two children, Chantal and Marie-Claire who gave them three grandchildren: Juliette, Elisa and Périnne. They also have the joy of caring for their four grandchildren. Today, both retired, they take advantage of their time to travel: cruising on the Nile, visiting Corsica, Montenegro and other closer regions. Lucie takes care of her garden, the flowers in her garden and the chapel of Métrich. Gérard loves walking and takes care of his fruit trees. He is also a member of the parish choir.
All our congratulations and best wishes.
