The US EPA has published the range for the electric sedan Air from Lucid Motors. The top value is 837 kilometers.
the essentials in brief
- The Lucid Air electric car has an EPA range of 837 kilometers.
- This top value of all electric cars belongs to the new “Dream Edition Range” variant.
A few days ago, the US environmental protection agency (EPA) published the official ranges of the electric limousine Air from Lucid Motors. With a range of up to 520 miles, the Lucid Air with 19-inch wheels has the highest EPA value of all electric cars to date. The converted 837 kilometers apply to the “Dream Edition Range”. It is a new variant.
A year ago at the presentation in September, the 588kW “Grand Touring” version was listed as the option with the highest range. The original “Dream Edition” has now been divided into two parts. Once in the aforementioned “Dream Edition Range” and in the “Dream Edition Performance”. The second is listed as 471 miles (758 kilometers) EPA range.
Tremendous efficiency
Lucid Group’s CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson said, “It is critical that this milestone has been achieved with Lucid’s world-leading in-house EV technology. The installation of an oversized battery pack is not responsible. ” The 900 V battery and the BMS technology, the smaller drive units, paired with the “wonder box” technology, would lead to this enormous efficiency. This way, the Lucid Air can cover a greater distance with less energy, said Rawlinson.
The US company Tesla has an EPA range of 405 miles (652 kilometers) with the Model S Long Range. The WLTP classification for the Lucid Air is not yet known. But it should follow soon, because Lucid wants to bring the e-sedan onto the European market from 2022.
