Mexico City., Guadalupe Taddei, president of the National Electoral Institute (INE), appointed Sendy Lucia Murillo Vargas as head of the Technical Unit for Transparency and Protection of Personal Data (UTTyPDP).
In a statement, the INE stressed that the appointment “is due to the recognition and professionalism” of Murillo Vargas’ academic and professional career within the electoral body.
He recalled that in September 2016, he assumed the position of Deputy Director of Access to Information at the INE, where he coordinated the management and response to requests for access to information, which is the responsibility of the 11 councillor offices, the 18 central bodies of the institute and the 32 Local Executive Boards of the federative entities.
Likewise, the preparation of draft resolutions that are presented for consideration by the Transparency Committee, in which various agreements, statements of incompetence, declarations of non-existence and information classified as confidential and reserved are analyzed.
Likewise, it coordinated the handling of appeals filed before the National Institute for Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI).
In a statement, the INE stated that Murillo Vargas is a lawyer from the University of Guadalajara, has a master’s degree in International Business Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain, and a master’s degree in Transparency and Protection of Personal Data from the Virtual University system of the University of Guadalajara.
He also highlighted that he has “a solid background in Transparency and Access to Information, backed by various diplomas in this area, as well as in Administrative Law, Strategic Planning and Public Management.”
From 2012 to 2015, Murillo Vargas served as Director of Transparency and Access to Information at the City Council of Zapopan, Jalisco, achieving a perfect score of 100 and thus positioning herself in first place nationally in terms of Transparency, according to an evaluation by the Collective of Citizens for Transparent Municipalities (CIMTRA).
