The latest data from the Federal Office of Public Health shows that the viral load of Covid-19 in Lucerne’s wastewater is higher than it has been for a long time. But infected people become less ill.

Apparently, many people in Switzerland are currently contracting the corona virus. The SRF reports this with reference to virus levels in the water from regional sewage treatment plants, which the Federal Office of Public Health regularly publishes. In various sewage treatment plants, the viral load is higher than it has been for a long time. These include the Lucerne, Winterthur, Bülach or Bremgarten/AG regions.

Nevertheless, there is no increased number of corona patients, the University Hospital Zurich says to “Switzerland at the weekend”. According to figures from the federal government, the omicron variant XBB is currently particularly dominant. According to experts, this variant usually leads to a cold, fever or runny nose.
