Lucasfilm CEO Kathleen Kennedy on a podcast for Entertainment Weekly confirmedthat the studio has no plans to replace Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones after the release of the fifth film. Kennedy admitted that the studio will continue the franchise with the series, and it will not be tied to the famous Ford hero.
“This is Harrison’s last outing – that’s how we look at the Indie franchise. My point is that right now, if we wanted to do something, then in the future it could be in the format of a series. But we’re not working on something to replace Indiana Jones. This is true. There are five films that Harrison Ford has starred in and he is so inimitable and unique in this role. Us and Steven [Спилберг] I agree – they just wouldn’t do it, ”she said, her words quotes portal The Direct.
Harrison Ford has confirmed that after the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, he will not return to the role. Lucasfilm’s plans for the series were revealed late last year. Insider Jeff Snyder reported that the show could become a prequel to the franchise, and then said that the studio would still not make a multi-part project in the universe.
Indiana Jones 5 will hit theaters on June 30th. The film received a mixed reception from critics – at the time of writing, it has only 50% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.
