Lucasfilm Announces Three New Star Wars Movies Starring Daisy Ridley

LONDON — For “Star Wars” lovers, there will be new movies closer to the galaxy. Lucasfilm announced on Friday three films in the franchise that will debut starring actors.

The films, which include the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey, were revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 in London by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and also on the Star Wars website. The films will be directed by James Mangold, Dave Filoni and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Kennedy was joined by the directors for the announcement.

Mangold’s film will return to the dawn of the Jedi. Filoni’s will be about the New Republic and “will wrap up the interconnected stories featured in ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ ‘Ahsoka,’ and other Disney+ series,” the announcement states. Obaid-Chinoy’s film will focus on the events following “The Rise of Skywalker” (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) and will feature Ridley as Rey “as he builds a new Jedi Order.”

Mangold directed “Logan” and the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Filoni directed “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka,” and Obaid-Chinoy directed “Ms. Marvel” and “Saving Face” (“Saving face”).
