The West Ham footballer was summoned by the CPI on Games Manipulation and Sports Betting on October 29as reported by Globo Esporte. The president of the organization, Jorge Kajuru, was the one who announced the athlete’s summons.
The player’s entourage did not want to comment on the call, according to the Brazilian media. Paquetá, for his part, is preparing with the Brazilian National Team for the double qualifying round against Chile and Peru.
The suspicions that fall on Paquetá
The West Ham footballer was reported on suspicion of being involved in a sports betting scheme on Premier League matches: would have forced four warnings between November 2022 and August 2023.
Meanwhile, in March Paquetá would have a hearing with the English Football Association (FA) for a complaint of misconduct in four Premier League matches. He is accused of violating the rules of conduct against Leicester City (November 2022), Aston Villa (March 2023), Leeds United (May 2023) and Bournemouth (August 2023).
