Defending the Brazilian team seems like an easy mission for Lucas Paquetá and Rodrygo when the ball changes places with the board. Before reporting to Canarinho for the Qualifiers games, the duo joined Gabriel Medina for a surf session in an artificial wave pool. The moment, evidently, had a lot of repercussions on social media.

Gabriel Medina has been taking advantage of his vacation to prepare for another season of the WSL (World Surfing League) and also to enjoy it with friends. Despite his recognition in the sport, the invitation did not come from the surfer, but rather from Rodrygo. The Real Madrid midfielder took risks with some maneuvers and proved that with the board he is excellent at controlling the ball.

Accustomed to using his feet to reproduce small steps, Lucas Paquetá tried to do more. The West Ham midfielder wanted to replicate Medina’s historic celebration at the last edition of the Olympic Games, in Paris. Unsuccessful in the challenge, the former Flamengo player received encouragement from the surfer on social media: “Revelation of the year. You got the reference, right? hahaha satisfaction, brother.”

The duo returns to Brazil to present themselves to the Brazilian team, in São Paulo, for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. With Lucas Paquetá and Rodrygo available, coach Dorival Júnior seeks to turn things around and find himself again with the good phase ahead of Amarelinha.

The team’s first clash takes place this Thursday, October 10th, at 9pm, against Chile. Brazil will use Palmeiras’ CT until Wednesday (9), when it leaves for Santiago for the duel in the 9th round of the Qualifiers.

The Seleção occupies fifth place, with ten points – eight points behind leaders Argentina – and is one point behind the first team outside the classification zone (Bolivia).

The Brazilian’s elimination in the semifinals of the Paris Olympic Games was perhaps among the biggest disappointments among fans in the last edition. This is because it was not the performance that took Medina out of the decision, as he even broke an Olympic record with a score of 9.9 in one of the phases, but the absence of waves in the contest.

Medina defeated Peruvian Alonso Correa in the dispute for third place and won the bronze medal for Brazil in surfing. Now, the Brazilian is enjoying vacation and preparing for another season of the WSL World Tour.
