Luca Nardi: Overcoming Challenges and Setting New Goals for 2024 with Jannik Sinner

Luca Nardi ITA, 2003.08.06

2023 has been a complicated year for Luca Nardi, the young Italian tennis talent, born in 2003. Nardi, who had high hopes of entering the prestigious top-100 of the ATP ranking, found significant obstacles in maintaining a constant performance during the season. Although his tennis skills are unquestionably remarkable, it has become clear that Nardi needs to work on his body to better adapt to prolonged efforts and also improve mentally.

A component that seems to be missing from the young athlete from Pesaro is that competitive determination, often essential to emerge on the professional circuit. This aspect emerged in particular after his exit from the Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah. Speaking to SuperTennis, Nardi shared his next steps: “I will return from Jeddah, but I will only take 3/4 days off… I will carry out my preparation for 2024 in Alicante with Jannik Sinner.”

The choice to train with Jannik Sinner, current world no.4, in Alicante, Spain, represents a significant step. Nardi will dedicate himself to an intensive period of training, hoping to be able to learn from Sinner’s modus operandi and approach, recognized as a model to follow. With a smile, Luca added: “I hope you let me play!… I’ll do two or three weeks in Spain. I will try to play my best tennis next year, but without too much pressure.”

Closing the year at n.115 in the ranking, Nardi now looks to the future with optimism, aiming for the Australian trip which will culminate with the Melbourne Slam. Despite the difficulties encountered in 2023, Luca Nardi appears determined to start again and reach new goals in 2024.
