Luca Lunetta, track and discipline: Moto3 has its first carabiniere

MISANO – Luca Lunetta races in Moto3 with the number 58 of Sic, in Marco’s father’s team. Romano, 18, last Sunday climbed onto the podium for the first time in Aragon. A talent raised by the Fmi thanks to the Pata Talenti Azzurri project, Luca is the first carabiniere in the world championship. His teammate, Filippo Farioli (19, from Bergamo), is in the State Police. A soldier and an agent for the Sic58 team: “They’ll take care of defending me”, laughs Paolo Simoncelli.

The path paved for other kids

Lunetta’s entry into the Carabinieri was made official in the Misano paddock, in the presence of Giovanni Copioli, president of the Italian Motorcycling Federation, and Carmelo Ezpeleta, number one at Dorna. “A historic achievement,” commented Copioli. “Even more important because this experience will open the doors to other young people, who could enter the Carabinieri Group. I have to thank the Carabinieri, especially the General Commander Teo Luzi and the Commander of the Gianni Massimo Cuneo Sports Center, for the opportunity they gave us.” Thanks reciprocated by General Luzi: “Lunetta is a young pilot and a great talent.”

The road of Lunetta

This year the list of Pata Talenti Azzurri has 70 riders divided into 8 disciplines (Speed, Motocross, Enduro, Trial, Supermoto, Speedway, Flat Tack and Quad). Lunetta, in his seventh year of presence, has followed the training path of the Federation, which has contributed to accompanying him to the world championship. From minibikes to the title of Italian champion of the CIV, the first international competitions and today the Moto3 with Paolo Simoncelli’s team. In Aragon he finished in 3rd place behind the Spaniard Rueda and the Dutchman Veijer.
