Luca Brecel also rushes to the final of the Scottish Open | Snooker

Luca Brecel had already beaten Anthony McGill 6-2 last week, now he went even harder. Not that he had to bring out his best snooker. Our compatriot struck especially coldly when the Scot made a mistake.

McGill tried to turn it into a tactical joust, but that didn’t work either. Brecel remained cool. Only when he was 5-0 did he give his opponent a frame, that’s all.

“Playing two finals in a row is really fantastic,” said Luca Brecel. “I can’t even say whether I played well or not, I was so focused.”

“I know I missed a few balls, but under pressure they went in at the crucial moments. The confidence is there and then the difficult shots also succeed.”

“The confidence is so great that I can already see myself in the final, even before the first shot has been played. But that means nothing, when I’m at home in front of the television, I often think I’m in the final.”

“It will have to be better to beat John on Sunday,” Brecel realizes. “It is not difficult to recharge yourself for such a match. Often it is against the strongest opponents that you play best. You then know that it is really necessary and raise each other’s level.”

‘After losing a final of such an important tournament as the UK Championship, it is not easy to win a tournament immediately afterwards. But it may happen to me, it would be fantastic,” concludes our 26-year-old compatriot.
