REPORT: The famous French director Luc Besson arrived in Prague to introduce his new film DogMan to the audience. The story of a man who, as a child, was locked in a pen with fighting dogs by his father. He was said to have been inspired by a real article about a family that treated their offspring this way. PrahaIN.cz attended the screening of the author of the films Brutal Nikita, Fifth Element, Magical Deep or Leon.

The ceremonial launch took place on Wednesday, November 29 at the Světozor cinema. And although it was originally planned that the director would attend, in the end he preferred dinner and showed himself to fans only after the end of the film.

Its screening ended this year’s French Film Festival in Prague.

Luc Besson is not only the director of the film, but also its screenwriter. The thriller DogMan received a lot of attention from viewers and critics at the Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion Award for Best Film.

“As a boy, his father locked him in pens with dogs. In his childhood, he knew only two things: the pain caused by those closest to him and the boundless love and affection of dogs. He suffered more than most people ever do, yet he maintained his honor and integrity. Now Douglas is an adult and has a special gift. Brief moments of happiness in the theater, where he performs as an actor, alternate with those when he is driven by sadness, pain and the desire to punish injustice. His gift and weapon is the devotion of his dogs, who are like his own children to him,” he says official annotation.

And no one ever saw him again…

We will not reveal more of the story. But we can say that the film was definitely successful and we recommend it. The best part of the movie was definitely the main character played by Caleb Landry Jones.

After the screening, Luc Besson came into the audience and answered questions for a few minutes.

The director debated with the fans after the film ended. Author: PrahaIN.cz

For example, he revealed details about his first work. He was only seventeen years old when he made his first film. It took him six months, he said, and at that time he had almost no money.

“I had to pay for the first screening out of my own money, I invited a few friends, they were all 20-25 years old. We sat in the hall and watched, it lasted eleven minutes and then I cried because I was finally a director. Then I asked my friends what they thought about it and they said: ‘Let’s go for a drink. ´ So we went to a bar, I was a bit uneasy about it, we had coffee there and they said to me: ´If you ever want to make a film, you must never forget one thing. If you have nothing to say, shut up. “That’s my next piece of advice,” Besson said with a laugh.

He then drove home, arriving at midnight, took the film to the garden, doused it with alcohol and set it on fire.

“Then he was never seen again,” Besson added.

The DogMan movie hits theaters on Thursday, November 30.
