LTV will donate 11 song stories and a show about the composer’s music / Article / LSM.lv

In anticipation of the 80th anniversary of the outstanding composer Imants Kalniņš, musical short stories have been created on Latvian Television, in which the composer’s family, friends and like-minded people will share their messages about the master’s music, legends and events that surround his songs. Cycle “Song Path. ImKa ”will be shown from May 15 to 25.

In the evenings of May, LTV1 will feature stories about eleven favorite songs of the composer: “Sand Dune”, “Dude”, “Raxtu raxti”, “Song of Freedom”, “They Danced for One Summer”, “Lily Song”, “Milk Road”, “Blue Bird” ”,“ In the city where the wind is born ”,“ There is only steam ”and“ Holiday ”.

Screenwriter Sandra Freiberga emphasizes how surprisingly rich, emotionally and musically vivid is Imants Kalniņš’s creative path: “Dozens of songs that meet in hundreds, symphonies, musicals, songs for theater performances and movies. From the quiet, lonely humming to the thousands of voices that fill the Mežaparks stage – the path of his songs to our hearts is so different. ”

On the composer’s birthday, May 26, at 9.10 pm, LTV1 and REPLAY.lv will host a musical tour “Imants Kalniņš’s Holiday”. Imants Kalniņš himself and his children and brother Viks will share personal emotions and thoughts, as well as like-minded people: Ingmārs Čaklais, son of Māris Čaklais, Maija Streiča, conductor Mārtiņš Klišāns, musicians Ilona Dreģe (formerly Bāliņa), Olga Rajecka, Zugis Roze Muktupāvels and Juris Sējāns, actors Līga Liepiņa, Aina Karele, Artūrs Skrastiņš and Ilze Ķuzule-Skrastiņa, poet Māra Zālīte and organist Iveta Apkalna. A special greeting to the composer will be prepared by the actors of the Latvian National Theater.

The song stories and the show were created by the LTV team – the author of the idea and script, Sandra Freiberga, the director Arvīds Babris, the cameramen Normunds Pavlovskis, Uvis Burjāns and Ēriks Kraiņevs, the sound director Viktors Andrejevs and the project manager Jana Priedniece.

Cycle “Song Path. ImKa ”will be shown every evening from May 15 to 25 after the program“ Panorama ”(except on May 22 at 19.55). Premiere of the show “Imants Kalniņš Holiday Day” – on May 26 at 21.10 LTV1 and REPLAY.lv. In turn, a wide range of additional content will be available on the LSM.lv portal.
