LTV New Year’s show “Raimonds Pauls prays for dance” / Article

The New Year’s show is designed so that every holiday evening is spent with a healthy and humorous and moving rhythm.

Maestro Raimonds Pauls says that the idea for the concert program came to him while listening to his old record “Call to Dance”: “I listened to him and wondered why not make such a retro evening today, but with such a large scope.”

Initially, the concert was planned to take place in Rundāle Castle. Guests would arrive in fine retro cars dressed in elegant dresses and tailcoats. But over time, plans have changed, and now the idea has turned into a bright and energetic concert, which everyone will be able to watch on television.

“But that principle has remained, and our old records are being used! Those tunes are all from the 60’s and 70’s. That’s how we try to make old songs more fun,” says Maestro.

Various popular musicians and actors in Latvia will take part in the concert – Intars Busulis, Kristīne Prauliņa, Normunds Rutulis, Ieva Kerēvica, Žoržs Siksna, Aija Vītoliņa, Veronika Plotņikova, Dināra Rudāne, Daumants Kalniņš, Ance Krauze and others.

Singer Ieva Kerēvica notes: “I grew up with Maestro music. For me, it is the only music of all my teenage years, in which I always felt good and knew a lot of the melodies.”

The stage duo will also be performed by musician Intars Busulis and his son Lenija, for whom this will be his second joint performance. Dance groups “Dzirnas” will also add to the atmosphere on the stage.

“There will be rock and roll, there will be a waltz. And I am so glad that this is the time when our teachers and the students of” Dzirna “will all participate in this show together,” emphasizes Agris Daņiļevičs, the founder and leader of the dance group “Dzirnas”.

The New Year’s show was directed by actor Intars Rešetins, and its main theme is “What is good, tasteful humor and how Latvians have a sense of humor in general”.
