LTO lacks solutions in cabinet nitrogen plans

Minister Carola Schouten of Agriculture presented plans that contained new elements, especially in the field of construction. Nitrogen reduction through agriculture still has to be done, for example by buying out livestock farmers and focusing on circular agriculture, plans that Schouten had already presented. A plan to reduce emissions from dairy cows’ manure by adjusting the feed has been abandoned.

“Legalization, registration, reduction. That is the only route for a fair, effective nitrogen policy that prevents chaos,” says LTO’s Trienke Elshof about the law that Schouten sent to Parliament today. “Unfortunately that is still missing.”
