Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) released the results of a national survey on electability, influence of debates and vote migration regarding presidential candidates (capres) and vice presidential candidates (cawapres) 2024. In the survey, teachers, lecturers and civil servants (PNS) involved as respondents.

The electability of presidential and vice presidential candidates can be determined by various factors such as the ideas of candidate pairs (paslon), party choice, personal interests, and the results of debates between candidate pairs held by the General Election Commission (KPU).

In society, various issues are circulating about who will win the 2024 elections. Will the PDI Perjuangan win again like in the 2014 and 2019 elections? Or maybe Gerindra is currently winning electorally?

Therefore, LSI gathered respondents from various circles to survey their choices in the 2024 presidential election. What is the electoral level of the 2024 presidential and vice presidential candidates among teachers, lecturers and civil servants?

LSI’s 2024 Presidential-Vice Presidential Candidate Electability Survey Method

The target population for this LSI survey is Indonesian citizens aged 17 years and over who are married and have a cellphone, namely around 83%. LSI has had 210,001 respondents who have been interviewed directly.

About 70% of them have a telephone number. Of this number, LSI is targeting 14,870 respondents who will be interviewed randomly.

However, LSI obtained a sample of 1,206 people who were successfully surveyed/telephoned. They were chosen randomly via the double sampling method.

They were interviewed directly by LSI via telephone after the third debate on January 7 2024. LSI maps the margin of error for this survey to be approximately 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.

Prabowo-Gibran excels among civil servants, teachers & lecturers

The survey divides data into groups based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion, education, employment, income, rural/urban, and region. Specifically in occupational groups, perceptions of civil servants (PNS), teachers, lecturers and professionals were mapped.

Survey results among teachers, lecturers and civil servants showed high numbers for candidate pair number 2. 56% chose Prabowo-Gibran.

Then, followed by pair number 3. As many as 18% of this group chose candidate pair Ganjar-Mahfud.

The figure of 17.1% was shown to Anies-Muhaimin, who was pair number 1. The remaining respondents did not answer. In conclusion, the LSI survey shows Prabowo-Gibran’s superiority among teachers, lecturers and civil servants.

On average, respondents chose the Prabowo-Gibran pair because they were firm, brave, authoritative, just like it, and best able to lead. Meanwhile, the reason for choosing Ganjar-Mahfud was because he was the most convincing and he just liked it.

Then, on average, respondents chose the Anies-Muhaimin pair because they wanted change, just liked it, were smart and had a broad outlook.
