TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) revealed the reasons for revoking physical protection against Richard EliezerThursday, March 9, 2023.
LPSK spokesperson Rully Novian said the revocation was decided because Richard had violated the agreement to protect LPSK after agreeing to be interviewed Compass TV in the Bareskrim Polri detention house.
LPSK had requested that the interview not be aired because it would have consequences for Richard Eliezer’s protection. However, Richard’s interview will still air on Thursday night, March 9 2023, at 20.30 WIB.
“On this matter, Thursday, March 9 2023, the LPSK has held a trial of the LPSK Leadership Court with a decision to stop protecting RE,” said Rully during a press conference at the LPSK office, Ciracas, East Jakarta, Friday, March 10, 2023.
LPSK expert Syahrial Martanto said that the revocation was decided because Richard, as the protection of the LPSK, violated Article 30 paragraph 2 letter c of Law Number 13 of 2006 Concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, as well as the protection agreement and statement of willingness signed by Richard.
Article 30 paragraph 2 letter c contains “a statement of willingness to follow the terms and conditions for the protection of Witnesses and Victims as referred to in paragraph (1) contains: the willingness of Witnesses and/or Victims not to have any relationship with anyone other than with the approval of the LPSK, as long as they under the protection of LPSK”.
Rully said that the implementation of the protection had an agreement and a statement of willingness that had been signed by Richard. He said one of the firm points in the agreement was that Richard was obliged to follow the procedures for protection and not to do things that could pose a dangerous risk to himself and not to have anything to do with or not comment directly and openly to any party without the knowledge of the LPSK.
“In the statement of readiness it was also emphasized that Richard Eliezer expressed a willingness not to have any relationship with other people, other than with the approval of the lpsk as long as the person concerned is in the protection program period,” he said.
