Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) confirmed that it had issued a recommendation to postpone the investigation related to the Roy Suryo case to the Polda Metro Jaya investigators. LPSK assess Roy Suryo had previously reported and had the status of a witness.
Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Edwin Partogi revealed that the LPSK recommendation to the Polda Metro Jaya refers to Article 10 of Law 31 of 2014 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims.
“Yes, so we recommend that the Polda Metro Jaya pay attention to the provisions in Article 10 of Law 31 of 2014 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims. Article 10 refers to witnesses, victims, reporters, and experts, including witnesses to perpetrators, they cannot be sued, both criminal and civil,” that’s one,” said Edwin at the LPSK office, East Jakarta, Thursday (21/7/2022).

He mentions a case that places Roy Suryo as the reported party must be postponed. The reason is that Roy is said to have reported first to the Polda Metro Jaya regarding the first three uploading accounts of the stupa meme.
“The second is that if there is a criminal or civil lawsuit, it must be postponed until the report is submitted. Mr. Roy’s position was at the beginning as a witness, he had reported it first placing him as a witness. reported,” he said.
Therefore, Edwin hopes that the report that Roy made to the Polda Metro Jaya on June 16, 2022 will be processed first. Regarding the follow-up in other cases, he left it to the investigators.
“His position as a witness in the first report must be respected first. Processed by the police first, that is, disclosed first,” said Edwin.
“Then after that, later on as the reported person (Roy Suryo) still needs to be followed up, please feel free as long as it is still relevant. But his position as a witness in cases that have been reported beforehand, should be respected first,” he said.
