Once again, the scammers scammed a bona fide victim with the related trick via the WhatsApp messaging service. This time he captured a 57-year-old woman from Erfurt on Tuesday. The perpetrators pretended to be her daughter, whose cell phone is defective and that she forgot some money transfers, which now need to be fixed. The caring woman complied with the request and transferred 1,500 euros to the authors. The fraud was discovered shortly after. The police have launched an investigation and warned against negligent transfers. If in doubt, it is advisable to contact your relatives or inform the police via the known emergency number. (DS)
