“Deeply disappointed”
“I am deeply disappointed,” Van Eerdenburg shares in the afternoon show of 3FM. “And with me a lot of people who had a ticket. Who were done with it after a year and a half.”
What went wrong according to the festival boss? “From June 26. Before that, everything seemed to be going very well and we were heading straight for a good late summer. But everything opened up too quickly, Testing for Access did not work, we went dancing with Janssen and there were fraudsters at the door. was a cluster fuck.”
Testing not feasible
The testing made multi-day festivals unfeasible. Eric: “Testing every 24 hours if you are vaccinated is unfeasible at a festival. It would then become a North Korean labor camp. That does not fit with those events.”
Together with other events and the cabinet, there was a lot of talk and looked at how it could go ahead. “Everyone’s conclusion was that it couldn’t be done. And that the government had to cancel it. If we as an organization think we can’t implement it, we have to say so honestly. And if the government has to cancel. Well then must that.”
Angry at people who don’t vaccinate
Where is the anger with a festival boss now? “I am angry at the forties, fifties and sixties who do not allow themselves to be vaccinated and are now in hospital unvaccinated. As a result, everything is now silent all the time. The young people have been restricted for a year and a half. It is now their time. And it can! There are vaccines and there are too many people who don’t.”
Was there still a possibility to let Lowlands take place in one day? Unfortunately not. “That is impossible with all the things that have to be built up and everything that has been agreed. Lowlands is so large and built on a certain model that it cannot be scaled down.”
