Lowest Volume of Beef Exported in June – Latest News from Rosario Livestock Market

The latest “Batch of news” from the Rosario Livestock Market (Rosgan), signed by analyst María Julia Aiassa, states that the lowest volume of beef so far this year was exported in June.

It is about 71 thousand tons. “According to INDEC confirmed data, last month 9,958 tons of product weight were exported, equivalent to some 70,620 tons of bone-in beef.

Although June presents the lowest mark so far this year, positioning itself 22% below what was exported a year ago, in the accumulated first six months of the year, 464 thousand tons were exported for 1,398 million dollars, which represents 8% more in volume, but 21% less in exported value”, the report states.

commercial exchange

Meanwhile, the Argentine commercial exchange (ICA) in June in relation to the same month of the previous year decreased by 26.1% after reaching an amount of 12,627 million dollars.

“According to figures published by INDEC, in June 2023, exports reached US$ 5,450 million and imports, US$ 7,177 million, registering decreases of 35.4% and 17.2% year-on-year, respectively. As a result, the trade balance showed a deficit of 1,727 million dollars, the highest historical value and the fifth negative record in the first half of the year”, he adds.

Calf/fat ratio

The calf/fat ratio improves in the last 60 days, after the incipient recovery of wintering values. In July, the Rosgan calf reference yielded $547.0 against an average value for the steer in the MAG of $497.6, which leads to a calf/fat ratio of 1.10, 10% higher than the 0.99 average marked in May. Even after this recovery, it remains the lowest ratio for this month since 2019. In July 2022, this same indicator stood at 1.23.
