Geneva, May 28, 2021. Last morning of the partial lowering of the Rhône. The banks uncovered, at daybreak, on both banks, downstream from the Pont de Peney.

See the Rhône for the last time in its partial lowering as you go to pick it up when you jump out of the bed, at the place where this same bed is most spectacularly undone. Waking up at dawn this Friday morning, a few hours before the scheduled end of operations to purge the overflow of accumulated sediment. From noon, Lake Verbois – a reservoir, in the hydraulic sense – begins to fill up again little by little, until it returns to its original height again on Saturday during the day. “The exposed areas will be reconnected faster than expected, this is a plus for the environment”, rejoice the operators.
