Bad Oeynhausen/Osnabrück (dpa/lni) – On the Lower Saxony state border near Bad Oeynhausen (Minden-Lübbecke district), an ultralight aircraft made an emergency landing in a grain field due to engine failure. Both occupants were unharmed, police said on Saturday. The 70-year-old pilot and a 53-year-old passenger took off from the airfield in Porta Westfalica-Vennebeck on Friday afternoon, the destination was an airfield in Osnabrück.
Because of the engine failure, however, the experienced pilot initiated an emergency landing and landed in an existing lane of an agricultural tractor. The soft landing did not cause any damage to the aircraft or the cornfield. The machine then had to be transported away.
