People in Lower Saxony have various options for a corona vaccination. There are sufficient offers to be vaccinated promptly, said the Lower Saxony Ministry of Health on request. The spokesman pointed out that there are mobile vaccination teams in every district and city. The number should therefore be increased significantly. In the future there should be one vaccination team for every 40,000 inhabitants – instead of the previous 70,000, it said. In addition, counties and urban districts could set up stationary vaccination centers. Many people are also vaccinated by resident doctors – currently more than 4500 practices in Lower Saxony offer the vaccination, as the spokesman wrote.
Designated vaccination practices with additional vaccination consultation hours are also planned. The aim is also for other specialists to offer vaccinations, the spokesman said. “The Lower Saxony Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians and the medical professional associations in Lower Saxony have called on all resident doctors in the state to actively participate in vaccinations against corona.” According to the ministry, the mobile vaccination teams are expected to be able to administer around 770,000 vaccinations by the end of the year, and the resident doctors around 2 million. “So a total of up to 2.8 million vaccinations are possible in Lower Saxony.”
Since the demand for third-party vaccinations in particular is increasing sharply, people sometimes have to accept waiting times. “From the point of view of the ministry, it is important that the vulnerable groups are boosted first, as well as all people whose last vaccination was six months ago,” it said. The expansion of the offers should avoid long waiting times. With the mobile vaccination teams, people usually do not need an appointment.
In Bremen, from the point of view of the health department, there are also many opportunities to get vaccinated promptly. The offers will also be expanded there, as the spokesman announced. People can get a corona vaccination in medical practices, from mobile vaccination teams, at vaccination campaigns, from company doctors, at vaccination centers and soon again in a vaccination center. By expanding the offer with two new vaccination centers and a vaccination center, longer waiting times should be avoided. “A waiting period of a few days will remain necessary,” said the spokesman.
