Fire department rescues unconscious man from smoky house

Baltrum (dpa / lni) – Fire fighters rescued an unconscious man from his smoky house on the North Sea island of Baltrum. The man was found on the upper floor of his house, the fire department announced on Friday. They carried him outside and first handed him over to the ambulance service. He was then flown to a hospital on the mainland by helicopter on Thursday. The man was not seriously injured, said a police spokeswoman. According to the fire brigade, the trigger for the heavy smoke was a pan with burnt food.
