Performance Jadon Sancho claimed to decline because of rumors of a transfer to Manchester United prolonged. Sancho also gave his response.
Sancho was widely reported to be the target of MU in the transfer market last summer. The Red Devils management has made several offers to the Sancho club, Borussia Dortmund.
However, the negotiations between MU and Dortmund did not reach an agreement. MU was unable to meet Dortmund’s demand for the 20-year-old player.
Dortmund insists it only wants to let Sancho off for 108 million pounds. While MU’s last offer was around 90 million pounds.
The protracted transfer rumors were later claimed to be the cause of Sancho’s declining performance. Dortmund coach, Lucien Favre, had indicated that the news of the transfer to MU had an effect on Sancho’s appearance.
In the 2020/2021 season, Sancho has only scored two goals in nine appearances in all competitions. While last season, he could record up to 20 goals and 20 assists.
However, Sancho denied this assumption. According to him, ups and downs of performance are normal for a player.
“I don’t think so,” Sancho told ITV Sport as reported Mirror.
“I think every player has experienced a downturn in his career, and I’m going through it at the moment.”
“Now it remains how I get up and I’m happy to have a manager who believes and cares for me,” said Sancho.
MU reportedly hasn’t completely given up on pursuing Sancho. They will prepare a return offer the following summer.
