Lower Franconia: Persistent drought causes…

Hardly a drop of rain and lots of sun – in Lower Franconia the drought is currently increasing again and with it the risk of fire breaking out in forests and meadows. According to the German Weather Service, the risk of forest fires in the region will reach level 4 of 5 in the next few days. Observation flights will also take place again from Thursday, according to the government of Lower Franconia.

In the district of Main-Spessart there is already an absolute fire ban in Karlstadt and Eussenheim. This applies in particular to the fire pits and barbecue areas – private campfires are also prohibited.

The wind in particular is causing persistent drought in fields. This can be seen from the cracks in the soil, according to the Würzburg forestry office. An improvement can be seen in the forests – the deeper water reservoirs in the forest floors are somewhat full again compared to the last few years.
