Low YouTube Views and Likes for Presidential Debate Between Luisa González and Daniel Noboa

Yesterday, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the presidential debate was held between candidate Luisa González, for the Citizen Revolution movement (list 5), and Daniel Noboa, for the National Democratic Alliance (ADN, lists 4-35 ).

Views through the YouTube platform did not exceed 500,000. For example, the National Electoral Council (CNE) registers 274,000 views until 09:45 this Monday, October 2; in the Diario EL UNIVERSO account there were 66,651; and in Ecuavisa, about 95,000.

These amounts are lower than those of the first round, when seven candidates for Carondelet debated. In the CNE account there were 349,000 views; in Diario EL UNIVERSO there were 935,000; and in Ecuavisa, 63,000. This means 1.3 million views.

There were also several likes. For example, Diario EL UNIVERSO had 606 likes in the presidential debate on October 1; the CNE, a little more than 4,200; and Ecuavisa, 1,000.

In the first round, that is, in the meeting on August 13, the CNE had 4,900 likes; EL UNIVERSO newspaper, about 9,100; and Ecuavisa, 555.

Both González and Noboa referred to four axes: political, economic, social and security.

Economically, González said that he will return institutionality to the organizations that regulate illegal mining activity, which should not be confused with artisanal mining. While Noboa proposed regularizing small miners, taking care of the environment with strict regulations, but financing social problems and serving youth.

Regarding security, González promised $500 million to reequip the Police and regain control of prisons, ports and airports to confront the gangs. And Noboa referred to his security plan called Fénix, regarding scanning in the country’s ports, citizen surveillance in the neighborhoods with the Government of Israel and other issues.

Socially, González said that the drug table was created for adults, not for children, but to address a public health problem. Noboa offered a national daycare system to help working mothers, pediatric care and nutrition.

And regarding politics, González said that in his government he will guarantee retirement pensions and honor debts. And Noboa said that first we must return liquidity to the IESS with the repurchase of state bonds. (YO)
