Héctor Castro, head of the PAI, expressed his concern about the low percentages of some vaccines in the normal immunization schedule for children.
This represents a risk of outbreaks of diseases such as chicken pox, with coverage hovering around 50%.
Municipalities with a low percentage of vaccinated children will be the next health target.
This strategy seeks to achieve the goal of immunizing children with booster doses and first doses against measles, rubella and polio.
The vaccination campaign ended on November 30th. According to a report by the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), coverage has reached 67% with oral polio bOPV.
EPI’s target population to be immunized against polio was 636,611 boys and girls aged 6 months to 4 years of age.
As for the dose against measles and rubella, the coverage reached 65%. This represents a total of 550,264 applied doses.
The target population in this case was 846,952 boys and girls aged 1 to 6 years.
