Low point reached: Companies complain about lack of orders

Munich (dpa). – The lack of orders in the German economy has worsened. In July, more than 39 percent of the companies surveyed by the Ifo Institute reported a lack of orders, after 38 percent in April.

“The lack of orders is putting pressure on economic development in Germany,” said survey director Klaus Wohlrabe. “Almost every industry is affected,” says Wohlrabe. In the metal and electrical industry, more than every second company reported a lack of orders, in the automotive industry 43 percent and in chemicals 40 percent.

“The demand for temporary workers is falling because of the stagnant economy,” said Wohlrabe. There were no transportation orders from business in the logistics sector. Among service providers, the share of companies with lack of orders from 32 to 31 percent, according to the institute.
