Low mortality in covid-19 in recent weeks

Sweden is among the countries in Europe that have had the lowest number of covid deaths in terms of population in recent times, reports Swedish Radio Ekot.

During weeks 27 and 28, Sweden had 0.19 deaths per million inhabitants, according to statistics from the EU’s infection control authority EDCD. Only Liechtenstein, Malta and Iceland report a lower level.

– It is a reflection of the fact that we have reached a very high vaccination coverage in the groups that have the greatest risk of passing away, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell to the radio.
