Low Influenza Vaccination Coverage in Santa Cruz Raises Concern for Health Officials

The Provincial Health Service (Headquarters) of Santa Cruz expressed concern about the low coverage of influenza vaccination in the province. Despite more than half a million doses arriving in recent weeks, only 45,000 were applied, which represents only 14% of the doses received.

The director of the Central Office, Jaime Bilbao, called on the people to go to health centers or authorized points to get the vaccine, which is free. “It is important that people are aware of the importance of getting vaccinated against influenza, especially risk groups such as people with underlying illnesses, pregnant women, older adults and children under two years of age,” said Bilbao.
