“Low Emission Zones in Spain: Which 149 Municipalities Will Implement Them in 2023?”

The year 2023 is about to arrive and it will be full of novelties. And it is that the new Climate Change and Energy Transition Law establishes that from January 1, 2023 all the municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitantsas well as island territories and municipalities with more than 20,000 inhabitants with harmful air quality for health, must include Low Emission Zones (ZBE) in their urban centers.

Spain currently has 149 municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitantswhere they reside more than 25 million people (more than half of the inhabitants of the entire national territory), according to the Statistics National Institute. Next, we detail which are the 149 municipalities that will have a Low Emission Zone throughout 2023.

In the graph above we show you the percentage of each type of label (B, C, ECO, 0 Emissions or without badge) currently in the fleet of each Autonomous Community. As you can see, a large part of the vehicles that circulate in the communities They do not have a DGT label.
