Andreas Loverdos will make the official announcement of his party on March 4.
According to a related announcement, the party of Mr. Loverdos was founded by filing a statute and all the necessary documents at the Areio Pago on February 7, 2024.
The name of the party has not yet been announced, however politically it will be positioned clearly in the center.
The two options
After the June elections, Mr. Loverdos had two options. He has said so publicly himself. SW or some move of his own. The first case had its difficulties. Mr. Loverdos, as estimated, is highly popular in the ND.
After all, hundreds of his personal voters moved there in the last elections. They preferred to vote for Kyriakos Mitsotakis at a painful cost for him since this is how people from his environment explain why he stayed out of Parliament. However, a move of his own to the ND would not be a simple matter.
The autonomous presence in the political arena, through a new, centrist movement, was what was swirling in the mind of the former minister and reinforced by his reading of the political scene.
The electoral expectation
The new party may prove attractive to a large section of center voters. This is the happy narrative. Because there is also the so-called “bad scenario”. What will happen if the new party falls below the threshold for entering the European Parliament? And does this eventuality perhaps create second thoughts about some form of cooperation with the ND?
The possibility of cooperation with the ND is rejected. The new party will be at the starting point of the election race. This, at least, is the ambition of Mr. Loverdos.
