The political venture of Andreas Loverdos with the Democrats may prove short-lived. As he characteristically confessed “if 3% is not won in the upcoming European elections, it will be the final act of my political course”. “I think it makes sense,” added the party president.
However, invited to an ERT broadcast, the former minister informed that “the ballot is now being drawn up and based on the proposals we have established what half of them might be”.
“Since we published last Monday this video from Evros and our website, there have been dozens of people who have said they want to be candidates. But before, when we were getting ready, we had told the people that if you want to go down, you will go down,” the president of the Democrats also asserted.
Regarding the direction of the new venture, Mr. Loverdos clarified that “the name of the party leaves a clear message that we have a front against the extremes”. At the same time, of course, as he said, “we will not leave our patriotism and our homeland gift to the fascists, to every kind of thug, racist and intolerant”.
According to the former PaSoK official, “we are patriots in our own hands. Patriotism and the fate of Greece, like the interest of the country and its citizens are in safe hands.”
